The products that we purchase for our pets have a big impact on the environment and their well being. Finding Eco-friendly dog and cat products should be easy. All of our products are environmentally friendly, organic or natural in some way. However not all items are created equal. We discovered that the green factor of products varies. To help distinguish products, The Recycled Retriever created our “green dog” rating system.

Green

Generally a one dog rating goes to a product that has Eco-friendly elements. We feel confident that the product was made with consideration given to the environment. The product may be made with other elements of varying levels of environmental consciousness.

Greener

A two dog rating is assigned to products that have many Eco-friendly elements. The products have been created with great care given to the environment.

Greenest

Three dog ratings are reserved for our products that are almost entirely made from Earth friendly materials, are nearly 100% organic or are all natural. We don’t take this rating lightly, but we have been able to find high quality products that deserve the designation.

We have rated each of our products based on a level of environmentally friendliness. It is our scale and we do not have a scientific method to support our ratings. We used good common sense and our own judgment to rate each item with one, two or three green recycled retrievers. Please don’t misunderstand; a one green dog rating is still good! Taking small steps is important.
