January 30-31, 2010

Join The Recycled Retriever as we hit the road for Erie, PA, and attend the Erie Kennel Club’s “One Sweet Show” on January 30th & 31st.  Show time is approximately 8a-5p each day.

The Recycled Retriever will feature many of its Eco-friendly dog toys, treats, accessories, bed and more.  You’ll have an opportunity to get a close up look at the quality and vibrant colors of the product.  In addition, sign up for our monthly raffle prize drawing for a chance to win an online gift certificate.

What a great picture! Looks like taking a bath may not be Bernie’s favorite thing to do, but that doesn’t stop this “Recycled Retriever of the Week” from mugging for the camera.

January’s Spotlight Shelter

In the past we have offered many opportunities for The Recycled Retriever customers to save money on Eco-friendly pet products.  As we start the new year, we decided that we wanted to support organizations that are doing good on behalf of animals. That idea was the start of our monthly Spotlight Shelter outlined on The Recycled Retriever blog.

Now, we are asking you to help us! The beginning of the year is a time when a lot of pet lovers look to replace or update their pet’s bedding. So, The Recycled Retriever wants to help you find great Eco-friendly bedding and help our January Spotlight Shelter with donations.

We’ll donate 15% of all bed purchases between Januray 7th and January 15th to our January Spotlight Shelter, Capital Area Humane Society! You’ll have a new bed and Capital Area Humane Society will have a little extra cash to help more animals find new homes.

To help you, we’ve added 14 fresh styles offered in 35 fashionable colors! And they come in sizes that will be comfortable for any pet.  That’s over 500 new Eco-friendly bed options available at The Recycled Retriever! As always, we offer FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $75.

Here are just a few of the available beds:

Shelter Spotlight January 2010

In 2010 The Recycled Retriever will spotlight organizations and people that are doing good on behalf of the animals that we love.  Each month we’ll share with you a shelter that is doing good! In addition we encourage you to share your personal stories with us.  Thank you in advance for helping encourage awareness.

To kick off our Shelter Spotlight series, we wanted to start with a personal story about Abbie, our Lab-mix, who was our inspiration for The Recycled Retriever.  Abbie’s life started out in a cardboard box that was left in a grocery store parking lot.  She and a couple litter mates ended up in a new home at the Capital Area Humane Society in Columbus, Ohio.  It was there where we were introduced to “Bette” a.k.a. Abbie.  Immediately we fell in love with her.  We had no plans to adopt a dog that day! While not recommend for all households this plan… well lack of plan… worked out for us. After filling out all the paperwork and getting approved we left, Abbie in hand, to purchase all the needed (and some not needed) supplies for a new puppy.

The experience at The Capital Area Humane Society was an awesome one. They were very thoughtful and provided a great temporary home for a lot of dogs and cats awaiting someone to arrive and provide a permanent home.

Abbie March 2001: The day we brought her home from the Capital Area Humane Society

Abbie has now been a part of our family for almost nine years.  She is loyal friend with compassionate eyes that make us feel secure even when life deals out it’s hard knocks, as life is known to do. It was Abbie who provided the inspiration to start The Recycled Retriever and it was her silhouette as a Lab-mix puppy that is the cornerstone of The Recycled Retriever logo.

Abbie Spring 2009: Almost 9 years later and we can’t imagine our life without her.

To Abbie we say we love you.  To the Capital Area Humane Society we say thank you and keep up the good work! To adopt a dog or cat that is looking for a home or to donate your time or money, please contact the Capital Area Humane Society.

The First Recycled Retriever of the Week for 2010

As many people kick off 2010 with new year resolutions and promises of change, at The Recycled Retriever we promise to keep some of our traditions.  One tradition that we’ll continue is The Recycled Retriever of the Week.

Each Monday, we’ll share a pet picture that was shared with us by our customers. Our customers are the best pet people!  Their pictures show it! We love getting new pictures and just can’t keep them to ourselves.  So, this year each Monday we invite you to sit back and enjoy The Recycled Retriever of Week.  Can you think of a better way to get the week started?  We can’t!

The Recycled Retriever of the Week is Maggie!

Maggie was a runner-up in our 2009 cutest pet contest.  We have not been able to get her out of my mind.  What a great picture!

Please upload pictures of your pets today!
