A friend of mine was gracious enough to come over recently and cook a fantastic dinner of butternut squash tortellini with brown butter sauce.  Her graciousness went beyond the meal– she arrived with a bottle of Vinum Cellars Reserve Petite Sirah wine in tow. 

Knowing how much I love my dog and The Recycled Retriever, she selected the wine based on the dog pictured on the label.    Since we are into reading and occasionally fawning over wine labels, we almost immediately discovered that the cellar donates a portion of the profits from this wine to their local dog shelter.  Beyond the label and the philanthropy we discovered a great wine.

This week’s Recycled Retriever is my cat Augie.  I know it’s selfish, but once I took this picture I could not help but to make her The Recycled Retriever.  She loves this Eco Nap Bed that I purchased.  The pet bed is made from recycled soda bottles.  It’s surprisingly soft and Augie loves it!  She is on the bed every time that I’m on the computer.  Great inspiration for The Recycled Retriever blog!

Come visit The Recycled Retriever at the Ohio State Fairgrounds Expo Center Bricker Building for the Mid Ohio Fall Cluster.  We will have our booth set up selling our Eco-friendly products.  The event takes place Thursday, November 13th, through Sunday, November 16th.  The event times are 7a-6p on Thursday, Friday & Sunday, and 7a-7p on Saturday.

Admission is FREE on Thursday and Friday and will be $5 for Saturday and Sunday.  This confirmation show, sponsored by four kennel clubs, will include approximately 3,000 dogs representing 158 breeds from all over the US and Canada.  It should be a great time.  No dogs are permitted unless they are participants in the event.

Back in August we blogged about the Columbus Downtown Dog Park.  The Recycled Retriever is happy to bring you an update… Construction has started!  While the space is small, the step for Columbus is big.  We are excited to see the progress at 4th and Spring.

The Columbus Downtown Dog Park Association is passionate and committed to supporting downtown revitalization. Their mission is to establish off leash dog exercise areas in close proximity to urban housing to support the development of a thriving downtown community.
