We think adopting a dog is one of the best things that you can do to help the environment. Making the World a better place by showing kindness and compassion to an unwanted, but loving dog brings great karma into ones life. It will change your life and the life of the special animal that you add to your home.
If you are willing to take on the responsibility and are ready to adopt, contact a reputable local shelter to get more information. The Recycled Retriever has spotlighted a few shelters in our blog and there are many more shelters who’s mission it is to find safe and happy home for deserving dogs.

Feed your dog natural and organic dog food. Just like the food that you get from the farmer’s market, your dog’s food should be high-quality. Ensure that it is void of growth hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, artificial ingredients and genetically engineered ingredients. There is a lot of nasty stuff that goes into common dog food and some of it has been marked as unfit for human consumption. Do you really want to feed that to your dog?
Look for dog food and dog treats that are all natural or organic. Look for meat ingredents that were raised in a healthy and sustainable environment. Feeding your dog natural and organic food is good for their health and they’ll love it!

The Recycled Retriever is dedicated to bringing quality resources to the community. There are many hardworking animal shelters who are working everyday to find homes for loving and deserving dogs and cats. It is with pleasure that we introduce you to Second Chance Humane Society.

In Their Own Words:
Second Chance Human Societyis a 501c3 non-profit all volunteer organization created to help the many abandoned pets (primarily dogs and cats) in our area find shelter and new forever homes. Most of our animals have been found by good Samaritans who bring them to us, or from pet owners who need to surrender their pets for various reasons.
Each animal in our care receives thorough vet examinations and any vet services needed to ensure good health. Each is also evaluated for temperament to help us determine the best possible home situation and if any behavior modification and/or training is needed prior to adoption.

If you have a yard I’m sure that it is one of your dog’s favorite places. They spend a lot of time in the grass sniffing the perimeter, chasing balls and doing their business. The yard needs to be a safe place! Use natural lawn care products and avoid items that have harmful pesticides or herbicides.
In the winter use a safe ice remover. Dogs may accidentally ingest the product that you are using. Do a little research and select a product that will not cause a health issues.
I know it will take some research time, but it will be worth it in the long run. Your dog will love you for it!

All of our pet beds have either received a three green dog or two green dog rating. The green dog rating system, created by The Recycled Retriever, helps distinguish the level of environmentally friendliness of our products. Check out these natural and Eco-friendly pet beds…
Greenest

Three dog ratings are reserved for our products that are almost entirely made from Earth friendly or post consumer recycled materials, are nearly 100% organic or are all natural. We don’t take this rating lightly, but we have been able to find high quality products that deserve the designation.

Greener

A two dog rating is assigned to products that have many Eco-friendly elements. The products have been created with great care given to the environment.
