The Recycled Retriever

Archive for August, 2008

Eco-friendly Dog Sweater

The Recycled Retriever is proud to offer Eco-friendly dog sweaters made from Reknitz™. Reknitz™ is cotton yarn that is made from reclaimed textiles.
The Process:
The cotton yarn is derived from pre-consumer textile table remnants that are cleaned and separated into raw fibers. The cotton fibers are then blended with 24% new acrylic fibers and spun into yarn for the sweaters. What’s more is the the fibers are not re-colored, as the careful mixing of textile cuttings creates the eye-cathcing palette used for the sweaters.
The Product:
Reknitz™ sweaters - simple, stylish and good for the environment! Made in the USA from reclaimed cotton fibers, each sweater saves water and does not require fertilizers, insecticides, dyes, and even farmland!
Reknitz Eco Friendly Dog SweaterSizing:
Available in 5 sizes, simply measure your dog from their collar to their tail to determine the recommended size for your little furry friend. Made specifically for Small Breeds!

10 Green Dog Tips in 10 Weeks: CLEAN

(Week 5)

If your dog is like mine, they follow you everywhere in the house. That is a lot of floor surface that they cover. For that reason, we have to watch the household cleaning supplies that we use. Not just on the floor, but all surfaces in the house. Many of the chemicals in standard cleaning supplies can poision dogs or cause health problems over extendended exposure.

Help you dog and the environment by using eco-friendly household cleaners. All natural cleaning products are free from toxic chemicals and are safe for the environment. Be a label reader and get educated on what you use to clean your house. You’ll be happy that you did and there won’t be as much need to worry about what is being eaten off the floor.

Recycled Retriever of the Week: August 21st Zoe

I know Zoe personally and she is one of my favorite dogs. She has a few years on her and she knows what she likes and doesn’t like. Zoe doesn’t like getting her picture taken, but I love this picture of her. She LOVES her striped hemp bone. Rumor has it that she sleeps with it!

10 Green Dog Tips in 10 Weeks: GROOM

(Week 4)

Many grooming products are made from harsh and harmful chemicals. The chemicals can harm both you and your dog. Avoid phosphates, sulfates and perfumed sprays. Make sure that you look both at the products you purchase and those being used by your groomer. Any good groomer will be open to your questions and will have alternatives that meet your environmental request.

Shop for high quality grooming supplies that are made with natural materials and are non-toxic. They are all around and you will find the right one and fall in love. Ahhh!
